Hours: Open 24 Hrs / 7 Days a week for fishing pier only. The rest of the park is open from Dawn to Dusk.

Cost: Parking and fishing from the pier is free.

Equipment Rentals: Yes, equipment rentals is available at the bait shop for $9.00 for 4 hours, $12.00 for a day, and $14.00 for overnight.

Bait Shop: Yes, a bait shop is located at the base of the fishing pier next to the Taste of Boston Seafood Restaurant but the hours to the bait shop are not 24/7 like the pier. phone number is same as above. Here are the hours: Monday - Thursday 11:00am - 8:00pm

Friday 11:00am - 9:00pm

Saturday 9:00am - 9:00pm

Sunday 9:00am - 8:00pm

Other Facilities: Restrooms, Picnic Area with Shelter and Playground, Restaurant ( Taste of Boston Seafood Restaurant ), Boat Ramp ( only 4 parking spaces for truck and trailer ).

Pier Information: The Ballast Point Fishing Pier is a very nice, well kept pier located in south Tampa.

This fishing pier has a restaurant and bait shop located at the base of the pier, the only downfall is that the bait shop has the same hours as the restaurant.

A boat ramp is next to the fishing pier but there is only 4 parking spaces for your truck and trailer, so if you plan on launching your boat here make sure to get there early.

The rest of the park is very nice as well, the playground and picnic areas are very well maintained.

For your fishing equipment a light to medium rod and reel setup will work best. For bait you can never go wrong with live or frozen shrimp which is the most popular bait at this pier.

A live pinfish or other baitfish ( greenback, threadfin ) will also work well here, using a baitfish will often times not get as many bites as a live or frozen shrimp but you just might catch a bigger fish.
